Canada allows some sweeteners to be used in cans

Canadian Health Canada has received an application to amend food and drug regulations to allow potassium acetesulfame-potassium and sucralose as sweeteners in standard water including canned apples, canned pears, canned pineapples, grapes and canned oranges. Canned fruits and non-standard canned fruits including fruit cocktails and tropical fruit salads. The maximum limits for the use of potassium acetosulfate and sucralose in these products were 0.007% and 0.025%, respectively. The Health Canada Department noted that the results of assessments based on available data support the safety and effectiveness of this specific limit in canned fruits, whether used alone or in combination. Therefore, in order to expedite the regulatory process, the Canadian Ministry of Health issued a transitional market authorization order to allow these sweeteners to be used in canned apples, canned peaches, canned pears, canned pineapples, canned grapes and canned oranges, and canned fruit cocktails within the above maximum limits, pending formal amendments to the regulations. The use of wine and tropical fruit salad.
