The consumption of peaches and nectarines is still growing, because it is one of the most popular fruits in China. The average annual export volume of canned peaches and nectarines in China is about 150 thousand tons. So far, China has exported 53 thousand tons. Its largest market is Japan, which imported 35000 tons last year, followed by Mexico (9000 tons), Canada (7000 tons), Chile (3700 tons), Australia (3000 tons) and South Korea (2500 tons).
The US Department of agriculture's report also focuses on Cherry harvest in China for fresh and frozen products. This occurred between mid May and late June, and is expected to reach 360 thousand tons this year.
In northern China, peaches and cherries are affected by the cold and dry spring, resulting in smaller fruit sizes, but the new situation helps, especially this year's cherry production is expected to reach a record level.
