The eight departments of the state have joined hands to implement the "thin body" operation of food standards.

 

Canned standards will be reduced by 40%.

 

Recently, the National Food Standards Development Plan for 2004-2005 was jointly formulated by the State Standards Commission, the State Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Health, the State Administration of Quality Supervision and Inspection, the State Food and Drug Administration, the China Light Industry Federation and the China Commercial Federation. Some of the standards in the food industry will be merged, some will be eliminated, and some will be included in the new standards system after review.

 

Canning industry: clean up ten years' old rules

 

"The cleaning up and rectification of this standard is the largest scale of canned industry in China in more than ten years." Lu Bin, who is in charge of cleaning up the standard, told reporters excitedly. "The clearance of this standard will reduce the existing standard by 40%."  Wang Baiqin, Secretary General of the canned standards Secretariat of the China food and Fermentation Industry Research Institute, said. According to the outline, canned national standards will be cleared from 27 to 9, canned industry standards will be cleared from 106 to 29, and bamboo shoot canned, lunch meat canned, canned food inspection methods, canned food code labeling requirements will be upgraded to national standards after the merger of the four industry standards. After cleaning up, the canned standards will be reduced by 40%.

 

Liquor industry: all standards are combined into one.

 

During the standard cleaning process, the high and low alcohol liquor standards of various flavor types in liquor industry were merged into one liquor standard. According to the experts from China Food Fermentation Industry Research Institute who drafted the liquor industry standards, the merger of high and low alcohol liquor standards divided the products into high alcohol and low alcohol liquor, and adjusted the alcohol content. "The original standard was formulated in 1989, and there is no standard for liquors with 40, 59 and 36 degrees of strong demand from consumers. If the new standard is issued, it will expand the scope of new products, so that enterprises will have more room for development in product structure adjustment and enterprise market development." According to statistics, most of the processing food standards in China were issued before 1995. So far, 52% of the national standards for processed food have not been reviewed and revised, and 57% of the industrial standards. Some of the standards have low adoption rate and poor timeliness, which has become a serious problem of processing food standards in China.
