Macao rice oil prices stable, canned food and noodles increased significantly 2018-08-29 08:52:16 Macao rice oil prices stable, canned food and noodles increased significantly
The latest "Supermarket Price Census Report" released by the Macao Consumer Council found that, compared with the first half of the month, the prices of some canned and ready-to-eat noodles still rose significantly, while the prices of most general drinks, dairy foods/drinks and condiments continued to decline, and the prices of rice and oily foods have stabilized.
The CPC said that the "supermarket price survey report form" conducted recently surveyed 12 supermarkets, 160 kinds of products. The survey reflects that, compared with last month and the last 15 days, most of the rice and oil food prices remained unchanged, and some of the prices of the products also fell. At the same time, the prices of some brands of oil food continued to rise by nearly 10%.
Most of the drinks in general are stable in the past half month, and the price is much lower in the last month. The prices of dairy drinks and condiments have been markedly and continuously lowered in recent months. Compared with the first half of the month, more than half of the 15 dairy drinks have been reduced by half to about 1%.
In addition, the price of three of the four brands of infant milk powder surveyed by the Consumer Council has not changed, and about 1% of the other brands have fallen. There are 11 kinds of seasoning products and 7 products with reduced prices.
Projects with sustained and more significant increases were concentrated in canned food. Compared with the first half of the month, eight items were priced up, an increase of about 8% to 1%, but two surveys found that the prices of most canned food continued to rise by nearly 14%, with an average increase of 5% for 11 items. Most instant noodles prices have fallen slightly in the past half month, but the overall increase in the past month is still significant.
One brand of cleaning and sanitation products, toilet paper, has risen more than 20% in the past month, while the prices of toilet paper and paper towel products have risen.
The CPC said that the "Supermarket Price Census Report Form" continued to investigate the same group of supermarkets located in different regions and found that supermarkets located in the same group in different regions would sell the same goods at different prices, in which there is a large price gap, which is quite common. To this end, the Committee recommends that consumers can refer to the "Supermarket Price Census Report Form" which is updated every 15 days by the council, so as to understand the operation strategies of different supermarkets and make more comparisons.
