Mexico's pineapple production has increased by 2.4% since 2010. Mexico produces and processes pineapples mainly for domestic consumption, but Thailand and other Asian countries are its main competitors. "Asian producers made many price forecasts and close cooperation contracts long ago. In addition, the current price is lower than last year, the dollar has also declined, so Importers'purchases have increased.

 

Data from the Global Trade Tracking Agency show that Mexico's pineapple imports from Thailand have declined over the past five years.

 

Among the canned pineapples imported from Thailand by Mexico, the main variety is 2.8 kg of pineapple pieces. According to local sources, "The import of small cans is not common, only 10 varieties (scroll) into the country's secondary market. Standard quality is aimed at high-end brands with up to 8 packages, and this part of the product is produced in China. He insisted that 100% of all raw materials used in canned products were produced in Mexico.

 

In 2016, Mexico produced 875,000 tons of pineapple raw materials, an increase of 4.2% over 840,000 tons in 2015. A source said: "In the past two years, as the price of pineapple in Thailand has risen, companies from the United States, the Netherlands and Russia have come to Mexico to negotiate with us. Now that the Asian market has returned to normal, negotiations have ended. We anticipate this result, but we don't want to always make up for demand in other markets when problems arise. Therefore, we have established strict terms of trade in order to carry out long-term trade.

 

It is reported that the raw material price of pineapple in Thailand is 130 dollars per ton. According to the Thai Food Processing Association, Thailand's pineapple production is expected to be close to 2 million tons this year.
