Since the spot market is not moving, the quotation for canned oranges remains unchanged throughout the season. In late April, the highest breakage rate of 24 x 11 ounces (312 grams) of canned Spanish oranges was 5% at 12.50 euros per box ($14.10 per box), 6 x A9 at 25.0 euros per box and FOB at Spanish port. A Spanish insider pointed out that the orange canned 6x A9 grade, the crushing rate of 10% products should be $25.50 per box, FOB Spanish delivery price, but such products are out of stock, there is no news of the transaction under this price. A Spanish insider commented that "there are some potential market demands, especially catering products, but they are all sold out now". Spain is one of the world's largest canned orange producers. Spanish industry insiders reiterated earlier this year that prices could rise based on the amount of inventory held by traders, as many retailers are likely to increase orders as Christmas approaches. There is no sign of a surge in demand for retail cans. Cans for catering in China have been sold out, especially in the European market. In February this year, the price of canned orange A9 (2650g) was about 14-15 US dollars per box for products with 5% selective crushing rate. In April this year, the price of canned orange A10 (3kg) was 18.00 US dollars per box. Canned orange production in both countries shrank in the current season compared with previous years.
