According to the application of the Spanish Association of Processing Fruits and Vegetables, the European Commission has launched an anti-dumping investigation into canned citrus fruits originating in China. The survey was conducted from October 1, 2006 to September 30, 2007, during which citrus canneries exported to the European Union were investigated. There are more than 80 enterprises involved in the case in China, of which 7 enterprises in Yichang City, Hubei Province, account for nearly one tenth. Currently, canned citrus fruits are produced locally in the European Union by members of the Spanish Association of Processing Fruits and Vegetables. In recent years, the market share of Chinese enterprises has risen year by year, because the local wholesale price is as low as half of the counterpart's, the other side takes this opportunity to propose anti-dumping at low prices.

 

 

 

Yichang agricultural export enterprises first encountered anti-dumping, involving the largest number of enterprises in all years. The total amount involved amounted to 7.607 million US dollars, the largest of which was Xinshi Food Co., Ltd., with 2.85 million US dollars, involving 4726 tons. The EU is currently the largest export market for canned citrus in Yichang. If the anti-dumping is established, the export of canned citrus in Yichang will be heavily taxed, which will hit export enterprises and even the entire citrus industry for at least five years.

 

 

 

Previously, Yichang City Commerce Bureau and the Municipal Trade Relief Promotion Association are assisting relevant enterprises to actively respond to the anti-dumping, to ensure that the EU market has been obtained.
