In the first quarter of this year, 128 batches of canned food were exported at Weihai Port, Shandong Province, weighing 2519.9 tons. The value of canned food reached 33.27 million U.S. dollars, which increased by 40.7%, 50% and 37.6% respectively, compared with the same period of last year. With the average annual decline of canned food in Shandong Province exceeding 10%, the export volume achieved counter-market growth.

 

 

 

Canned fruits and vegetables are the main canned products for export in Weihai, and a small amount of canned aquatic products are also exported to Japan, Germany, Britain, the United States and other countries and regions. In the first quarter of this year, the export of canned fruit was about 2204 tons, accounting for almost 90% of Weihai's Canned exports. Canned food is a traditional export product. In recent years, the export of canned food in Shandong has been declining year after year due to the high processing cost and the increasingly stringent foreign technical trade measures. Since 2017, Weihai Inspection and Quarantine Bureau has carried out one-by-one assistance activities, formulated assistance measures in accordance with the actual situation of enterprises, helped enterprises improve the existing food safety management system, continuously improve the conformity, suitability, effectiveness and standardization of the system, and promoted the quality improvement of export products of canned enterprises. In order to improve the speed of release, Weihai Bureau classifies the export products and carries out immediate release according to the results of daily supervision and self-inspection of enterprises for products with lower risk in exporting countries. At the same time, arrange special personnel to collect foreign technical standards and regulations information, timely release to enterprises, help enterprises actively respond to foreign technical trade measures, avoid trade risks.
