Tuna canned for the first time in the US market in Zhangzhou

Recently, a batch of saltwater tuna canned with a weight of 32.5 tons and a value of 58,000 US dollars was exported to the United States after being inspected and qualified by Zhangzhou Inspection and Quarantine Bureau. The batch of saltwater tuna canned successfully entered the United States market through the inspection of the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This is the first time in the history of Zhangzhou tuna canned into the United States market.

In order to help tuna canned enterprises effectively break through foreign technical barriers to trade and improve industrial efficiency, Zhangzhou Bureau of Inspection and Quarantine has been facing difficulties, giving full play to its technical advantages, taking corresponding measures to effectively promote the smooth entry of Zhangzhou canned tuna into the U.S. market, and doing a good job in recommending export registration. The technical experts of the bureau shall conduct registration and evaluation of export enterprises in strict accordance with the regulations of the United States such as CFR 110 and CFR 123. Through the registration and evaluation, they shall help enterprises to establish production management systems consistent with the technical regulations of the United States.

At the same time, the tuna raw materials should be imported into the factory, and the strict histamine requirements of the United States should be monitored to ensure product quality and safety from the source, so as to minimize the risk of products. We should control the production process and strictly follow the requirements of HACCP instructions to ensure that the key points of production process do not deviate from each other in the key processes of tuna canning production, such as temperature, processing time accumulation, sealing and sterilization.

In addition, export inspection should be strengthened, histamine and heavy metals should be comprehensively tested according to the requirements of the United States, and third-party customer comparison should be introduced in sensory inspection to ensure that the final product fully meets the United States standards.
