From January to August 2015, Spain exported 53,932 tons of canned oranges. This is a 9% increase over the same period last year.
Among them, the number of canned oranges sold in Spain to the United Kingdom and the Netherlands increased the most significantly, by 13 124 tons and 5 970 tons, respectively, an increase of 27%. The unit price of canned oranges sold to Britain increased by 9% to $1,569 per ton, and the unit price of canned oranges exported to other countries fell.
Germany is the second largest exporter of Spanish canned oranges. The unit price of imported Spanish canned oranges is about US$1,267 per ton, which is 20% lower than the same period last year.
Canned Spanish orange exports to France and the United Arab Emirates increased by 28% and 33%, respectively.
Canned Spanish oranges exported to the United States amounted to 1249 tons, up 17% from the same period last year, but the unit price fell 26% to $1478 a ton.
Since the United States imported 292 tons of canned Spanish oranges in 2013, it has substantially increased its purchases.
