In November this year, Shantou Customs, under the supervision of Jieyang Customs, inspected and supervised the export of canned bamboo shoots with clear water, totalling 503,000 tons, with a value of 743 million yuan, an increase of 3.27% and 2.4% over the same period of last year, respectively, and maintained a steady growth trend. The export products of Putian Bamboo Shoot, a famous product in Jieyang Overseas Chinese Township, have achieved zero notification and accident for more than ten years.

 

Jieyang is a famous hometown of overseas Chinese in Guangdong. Putian Town, Jiedong District, Jieyang City, is known as the "hometown of bamboo shoots in China" because of its rich bamboo shoots, which are called "Lingnan Mountain Treasure". Putian has a unique natural environment, more than 100 years of bamboo shoot cultivation history, with an area of more than 100,000 mu. It is one of the largest bamboo shoot cultivation bases in Guangdong and even in the mainland of China, and its annual export volume has long been the first of the similar products in the mainland of China.

 

Putian bamboo shoots export products are mainly canned bamboo shoots. At present, there are more than 40 countries and regions in the United States, the European Union, Japan and South Korea with a variety of canned bamboo shoots, such as shredded bamboo shoots, bamboo shoots, bamboo shoot pieces, bamboo shoot acid, bamboo shoot salts, etc.

 

Relevant responsible persons of the Customs Department introduced that Jieyang Customs precisely implemented measures to actively promote the quality of bamboo shoot export industry and support the local bamboo shoot export. Over the past three years, the export of bamboo shoots has increased by more than 20% annually, and the value added of bamboo shoots has increased by 35% annually, which has become the pillar industry of local agriculture.

 

It is reported that in order to strengthen the standardized management of bamboo shoot planting base, Jieyang Customs has set up a technical backbone team to study and formulate the control scheme of bamboo shoot residues, guide bamboo shoot farmers to do a good job in pest control, control the quality and safety of bamboo shoot canned raw materials from the source, promote standardized production of bamboo shoots for export, guide enterprises to establish and improve quality management system and quality traceability system, and Jieyang export. The qualified rate of bamboo shoot products in one inspection has remained above 99% all the year round, achieving zero notification and zero accident for more than ten years in a row.
