The first breakfast in space: one main, four pairs, one tea.
This morning, the astronauts had their first breakfast in space for fried rice, dried abalone mushroom, shredded snow vegetable, pickled mushroom, sauce and milk tea. Reporters learned that fish-flavored shredded meat, pine nuts corn, musk meat, black pepper beef fillet, mixed fried rice, Sichuan spicy sauce, lemon tea... During the Shenzhou-9 manned mission, more than 70 kinds of Chinese-style food of seven categories were sent to space with the astronauts.
God nine carries food with great taste.
"The space food that this mission carries is very delicious and has many designs." This is Shenzhou nine astronaut Liu Wang's deepest feelings about food. Indeed, the mission's recipes have taken a qualitative leap over earlier space-based recipes featuring compressed biscuits and snacks.
As the Shenzhou-9 flight crew will stay on orbit for 13 days, the requirements for food safety, diversity and sensory acceptance are getting higher and higher. The Space Food and Nutrition Research Laboratory of China Astronaut Research and Training Center adopts modern food processing technology and combines with traditional food engineering methods to make space food in variety and quantity. The intrinsic quality and food safety have been significantly improved, and the contradiction between the long-term storage stability and sensory acceptability of traditional Chinese food has been solved. The safety, reliability and nutritional delicacy of space food have been realized.
Chinese traditional food is the main feature.
Chen Bin, director of the Aerospace Food and Nutrition Research Laboratory, said that the Shenjiu mission food, with Chinese traditional food as the main body, has the characteristics of storage resistance, good sensory acceptance and adapting to the individual dietary needs of astronauts, so that astronauts can experience the atmosphere of traditional Chinese food culture during the mission.
Is space food compatible with astronauts? Chen Bin said that in the process of food development, in accordance with the principle of "nutritional balance of staple and non-staple food matching", under the premise of meeting the strict restrictions on weight and volume, astronauts were consulted extensively, taking full account of the characteristics of astronauts'taste. When each food was developed, astronauts were asked to taste and fill in the "sensory evaluation form".  Only 60 points or more of the food can be selected for this mission.
Female astronauts have special flight recipes.
Shenzhou nine manned mission is the first appearance of female astronauts in China. Aiming at the nutritional needs and physiological characteristics of female astronauts in space environment, the research laboratory designed flight recipes to meet the dietary needs of female astronauts, which fully guaranteed the dietary health and nutritional balance of female astronauts participating in the first manned flight.
Antioxidant food helps adapt to space
In view of the metabolic characteristics and medical protection requirements of mid-and long-term manned flight, the research laboratory has also developed antioxidant food which can alleviate cell oxidation and improve human immunity. Through dietary means, the astronauts'adaptability and protection ability to specific space environment have been improved.
Under the strict restriction of spacecraft load and power consumption, the research laboratory has conquered the key technology of residual food treatment, and solved the contradiction between lightweight, high reliability and zero power consumption of residual food treatment products without additional power consumption of spacecraft, but increasing the upstream load of spacecraft.
No heavy food will be eaten within four days.
The Center for Astronauts'Scientific Research and Training has developed a space food heating device to ensure that astronauts can eat hot food in space.
In order to prevent astronauts from feeling a single diet, the Shenzhou 9 manned mission's diet cycle is four days, that is, astronauts in orbit work, life, four days will not eat heavy food samples.
