Data Source: November is the second month of the 2009/10 squeezing season. The data series of the sugar-containing food industry in this year is not long enough to be susceptible to some unconventional factors. Therefore, in the first three months of the 09/10 squeezing season, the cumulative year-on-year growth of the output in this table is a cumulative increase after adding the total output of the previous squeezing season. Estimated by the end of November, the industrial sugar demand will increase by 13% in the 09/10 squeezing season, 40% and 60% in the civilian and industrial sectors, and 3% in the civilian sectors, and 14.84 million tons in the 09/10 squeezing season, taking into account the high sugar price (5,381, -18.00, -0.33%). The actual consumption of sugar is expected to reach 13.9 million tons by amplifying the effect of substitutes such as starch sugar.
As a result of the drought, the output is expected to be reduced to 12.1 million tons. The author expects that the supply and demand gap of fresh seasonal sugar will reach 2.8 million tons. The enlargement of the supply and demand gap will bring great stimulation to the sugar price. From the view of the external market, the international raw sugar price will rise again in the near future. The import prices of raw sugar from Thailand and Brazil are high, and the import prices of raw sugar are close to those of import sugar. It is unrealistic to fill the gap. The national sugar reserve at the beginning of the squeezing season, together with the 400,000 tons of Cuban sugar expected to arrive in Hong Kong early next year, will be 3 million tons, enough to make up for the supply and demand gap, and will greatly test the wisdom and ability of the country's macro-control.
