Gongbei Office of Zhuhai Inspection and Quarantine Bureau intercepted a passenger carrying canned meat prohibited from entering the passenger corridor.

 

The passenger holds a Chinese passport. During the inspection of entry baggage, the inspection and quarantine personnel found that he carried 21 cans of meat (mainly pork and chicken), 5.1 kilograms. The origin countries are Denmark and Korea. The passenger said he bought it during outbound travel and intended to bring it back to his relatives and friends. The Catalogue of Animals and Plants and Their Products Prohibited by the People's Republic of China for Import by Post clearly stipulates that meat (including viscera) and its products (raw or cooked) are prohibited from being carried or mailed into the country. The inspection and quarantine departments should intercept and destroy these canned products according to law.

 

It is understood that the health status of meat without inspection and quarantine is unknown, and it is possible to carry a variety of pathogenic microorganisms. If the processing process is not effectively inactivated, once exposed to susceptible animals, it will cause major epidemics and even endanger human health. The world generally prohibits passengers from carrying meat and their products into the country. In November 2014, the AQSIQ updated the list of animals and products imported from countries and regions that are prohibited from animal epidemic. Korea is listed as a bird flu and classical swine fever epidemic country. At present, China is prohibited from entering poultry products, pigs and * products from Korea. Zhuhai Inspection and Quarantine Bureau reminds passengers to pay attention to relevant laws and regulations before entering or leaving the country, so as to avoid unnecessary losses.
