In the report "Prospects for International and Domestic Market of Canned Food Industry", the Director-General of China Canned Industry Association pointed out that the total output of canned food in the world has reached nearly 50 million tons per year, with more than 2500 varieties. China has become the world's largest producer and exporter of canned food, especially canned asparagus and canned oranges, which account for the world's canned food. 70% and 80% of the first export volume.

According to customs statistics, in 2017, China's export of canned goods totaled 27.448 million tons, down 3.32% from the previous year, with an export value of 4.66 billion US dollars, up 1.3% from the previous year. Among them, aquatic products export showed a strong performance, with 336,400 tons exported in 2017, an increase of 10.3% over the previous year, and the export value of $1.647 billion, an increase of 11.43% over the previous year.

Meng Suhe, chairman of China Food Science and Technology Association, said that compared with the development speed and quality of the national food industry, China's canned food industry is still at a low level.
