The Thai tanker giant plans to invest $7.5 million in Sri Lanka to set up canneries and dry ice factories. The president of the Overseas Fisheries Association of Thailand pointed out that the group's investment projects had been approved by the Ministry of International Trade Relations.

 

 

 

When the new plant is completed, 80% of the group's products will be produced in Sri Lanka, and the rest will be produced in the country and exported to Europe. The group will provide Sri Lankan local fishermen with advanced technical training and fishing skills, and Sri Lanka may reduce or stop importing seafood in the future.

 

 

 

The group said the price of seafood in Sri Lanka was too high and hoped that the group's presence would change the status quo of the Sri Lankan fisheries industry. The group plans to work with 600 boat owners to provide them with modern equipment, scientific and technological equipment, fishery training, and to sign agreements with them to buy their catch products, thereby reducing intermediate links and achieving better prices for both sides. The above cooperation will directly employ more than 1200 fishermen.

 

 

 

The group has five canning plants along the Thai coast and also operates the catering industry. The group plans to expand its catering projects to Sri Lanka.
