 27 canned fish brands were found to contain parasites and ordered off the shelves by the Indonesian Food and Drug Administration

 
The Jakarta food and Drug Administration (BPOM) temporarily banned the sale of 27 mackerel and sardines canned brand and asked manufacturers to withdraw their products from the market as soon as possible.
 
 
 
Previously, the food and Drug Administration detected 541 samples of fish meat from 66 sardines canned brands, and found that 27 of them contained parasites. Therefore, manufacturers were asked to withdraw them from the market as soon as possible.
 
 
 
Of the 27 canned fish brands, 16 are imported products and 11 are domestic products made from imported mackerel. Food and Drug Administration Director Benny said imports were temporarily banned.
 
 
 
The Food and Drug Administration has given 30 days to urge producers and wholesalers to recover 27 canned fish products from the national market as soon as possible.
 
 
 
DorothyHamm Sally Bbu, an official of the food and Drug Administration of Mindanao City, said: "the defective products have been recovered from the market, more than 4000 canned sardines. We found that parasites were parasitic in the flesh of sardines when they were alive.
 
 
 
The wholesaler admitted that he was totally unaware of the parasites in canned fish products.
 
 
 
The Food and Drug Administration of Dorosalib Mindan will strengthen supervision and inspection of supermarkets.

The Food and Drug Administration of Sishui City, East Java Province, tested 20 canned mackerel brand fish samples in some modern and traditional markets in Sishui, Jombang and Mojokerto, and found that 7 of them contained parasites.
 
 
 
One of the seven mackerel canned brands is made in Korea and six in East Java. The parasite that lives in fish is dead.
 
 
 
The Food and Drug Administration of Sishui City has reported to the Central Food and Drug Administration and recovered the problematic canned fish products from the market.
 
 
 
Although it has not yet had a negative impact on human health, we must be cautious.
