Canned food has a wide variety, relatively long shelf life, and is very convenient, so it is deeply loved by the broad masses of consumers living in a fast pace. Recently, the Guangzhou Municipal Consumer Committee conducted a survey of canned food in Guangzhou market, and found no serious quality problems. But the results released yesterday showed that the labeling of canned food is more problematic, many of which are imported food.

 

Recently, the staff of the Municipal Consumer Committee, as an ordinary consumer, purchased 104 batches of canned food from two supermarkets and two shopping malls in the city. The results showed that 87 batches of all the items were up to the standard, and the overall standard-reaching rate was 83.7%. Among the items not up to the standard, 15 batches of samples were labeled nonstandard, and the minimum height of the net content character was not up to the standard. The measured values of solid content of products and 1 batches of edible fungi can not meet the requirements of the state. The qualified rate of canned fish and meat was 100%, canned fruit and vegetable was 94.6% and canned edible mushroom was 50%.

Reporters found that the unqualified label of canned food, more than half of the origins are abroad, such as Denmark, the United States, South Korea, Thailand and so on. Subsequently, the Municipal Consumer Committee will promptly inform the relevant production enterprises of the test results in written form. During the feedback period, the relevant distributors promptly notified the overseas suppliers and indicated that they would immediately make amendments.
