Canned bamboo shoots are the bulk export commodities in Jieyang area of Guangdong Province, and also the "top priority" of Jieyang's export. According to statistics of Jieyang Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, 859 batches, 25879.4 tons and 15.66 million US dollars of canned bamboo shoots were exported from January to September in Jieyang, a record high in the same period.

 

Since this year, the climate in Jieyang is suitable, bamboo shoots grow well and raw materials supply is sufficient. Relevant export enterprises have expanded production scale and actively expanded overseas markets. The export of canned bamboo shoots has shown a promising situation of both production and sales. Jieyang Inspection and Quarantine Bureau timely formulated the safety risk monitoring plan and implementation plan for bamboo shoot products, combining risk monitoring with groundwork investigation and routine testing, sampling, testing, result feedback and follow-up investigation for each batch of samples in accordance with the prescribed procedures to ensure the implementation of risk monitoring. In view of the characteristics of bamboo shoot production, the Bureau has carried out joint investigations with local agricultural departments and township governments on many occasions to grasp the pests and diseases of bamboo shoots and the use of pesticides; strengthened propaganda and guidance for bamboo shoot farmers, guided them to use efficient and low-toxic pesticides for pest control; strengthened communication and coordination, and strived for the local township governments to control pests and diseases. The industrial layout around the bamboo shoot planting base should be planned and controlled. No factories should be built in the control area. Soil, water and air pollution in the bamboo shoot planting ground should be avoided. A "green hill and green water" environment should be created for the production of bamboo shoots, and the hygienic quality and safety of the canned bamboo shoots exported from the source should be guaranteed.
