The US House of Representatives asked for 332 surveys of canned peach, canned pear and canned fruit 2018-08-22 10:35:57

The US House of Representatives asked for 332 surveys of canned peach, canned pear and canned fruit mixture.

On December 12, 2006, the United States House of Representatives requested the United States International Trade Commission to conduct a "routine fact-finding" of the canned peaches, canned pears and canned fruit mixtures industries of the United States and foreign suppliers, such as China, Greece, Spain and Thailand, in accordance with Article 332 of the 1930 Customs Act.
According to Article 332 of the U.S. Customs Act of 1930, the U.S. International Trade Commission may, at the request of the President of the United States, the House of Representatives, the Senate Finance Committee or the U.S. Trade Representative's Office, make "routine reconciliations of facts" concerning tariffs and trade in any event involving competition between the United States and other industries. Check and issue a report.
It stipulates that the final report of the Section 332 investigation does not contain any policy recommendations, nor does it provide a legal basis for any trade act committed by the President, unless specifically requested.
However, the fact is that the "332 investigation" often becomes a "forerunner" for the United States to start trade remedies such as anti-dumping, countervailing and safeguard measures in the future. In 2000, the U.S. International Trade Commission, at the request of the House of Representatives, investigated the situation of the foundry coke industry in the United States and China. In September 2001, the U.S. Department of Commerce ruled that the product constituted dumping, which eventually led to its almost complete withdrawal from the U.S. market.
