The price of canned mushrooms in Europe is too high for a long time because of private price. The European Commission therefore decided to impose a fine of 1 million on three canneries, with Bonduelle, the French cannery, being the highest fined.

 

According to Brussels, consumers in Europe have been paying too high a price for canned mushrooms for a long time. Bonduelle, Prochamp and Lutce, the canners, have negotiated a price since 2010 and privately split market share, according to the European Commission. 2 manufacturers will face a fine of 32225000 euros. The products involved are their own brands, cans of mushrooms and glass bottles for mushrooms.

 

The EU market competition commissioner pointed out that the price monopoly of canned mushrooms is aimed at preventing products from falling prices. For a long time, sales for food retailers were products of price negotiation. All European consumers may be the victims of this price monopoly.

The French company Bonduelle will pay a fine of 30204000 euros for this purpose. Prochamp, a Dutch firm, has cancelled a 30% fine in collaboration with the European Commission's investigation and is therefore required to pay a fine of 2,021,000. Holland Lut CE was not punished.
