Japanese canned mackerel was mixed with saury in about three million cans made in 2014, and even if more than half of the canned mackerel were saury, there was no sign of saury.

 

 

 

The Ministry of Economy and Industry said that the Law on the Prevention of Unfair Competition would establish penalties for consumers to mistake the false identification of food raw materials. The company said that due to the shortage of raw mackerel, priority was given to delivery, the use of swordfish instead of mackerel, to apologize to consumers and sales units.

 

 

 

It is said that the canned brand of mixed saury is the mackerel facing the Middle East export (95g per tank). The fish is cut into thin slices, and consumers are hard to distinguish from appearance and taste. The canned side is painted with mackerel and Yemen and other Middle East salad and soup ingredients.

 

 

 

Recently, food wholesale companies conducted an internal investigation to confirm that it was mixed with saury, and found that about 3 million cans of 16 million canned fish manufactured and released in 2014 were mixed with saury, while canned mackerel was not mixed with saury in 2015.
