From January to May 2011, China's export of canned goods from Zhangzhou, Fujian Province, the main canning producing area, increased by 13.31% and 37.29% respectively, with a total of 144 countries and regions including Kazakhstan and Namibia added to the export market.

 

The main export varieties of canned fish in Zhangzhou in the previous May were still mushrooms, accounting for 59.67% of the total export value of canned fish, while the new varieties of canned fish in eggplant juice became the second largest export variety in recent years, with an export of 11.5492 million US dollars, an increase of 358.05%, and canned asparagus and other traditional advantages of Zhangzhou, Zhangzhou, the official of Zhangzhou Inspection and Quarantine Bureau said Wednesday. Varieties of canned exports have maintained steady growth.

 

The official said that ASEAN, Russia, Japan, South Korea and other export markets have maintained relatively rapid growth. In addition, 11 new countries (regions) such as Kazakhstan and Namibia have been added so far this year, with a total export market of 144.

 

Since the beginning of this year, concerns of food safety have been increasing at home and abroad. Zhangzhou Inspection and Quarantine Bureau has carried out two special inspections on canned products for food additives and heavy metals, and held two symposiums for heads of enterprises to inform the food safety situation at home and abroad. At the same time, two training courses for enterprise inspectors were held to train nearly 400 inspectors, effectively improving the quality and safety of canned enterprises in the jurisdiction. Since the beginning of this year, the export of canned goods has not been detected in foreign countries.

 

Zhangzhou is the most concentrated area of mushroom canning production, processing and export in China. The whole city has formed a complete system from mushroom cultivation, production, processing, export to canning. The export volume of mushroom canning accounts for 80% of the country.
