First quarter domestic canned exports rebound

China's exports of 715,500 tons of canned goods in January and March were 30.92% higher than the same period last year, and the export volume reached 784 million US dollars, an increase of 13.7% compared with the same period in 2008, which was relatively less affected by the global financial crisis. Export volume decreased by only 1.58% and 0.56% respectively, which means that China's Canned exports began to pick up.

From January to March, China's major canned exports showed positive growth year-on-year, and the increase was higher than double-digit. Among them, the largest export volume of canned vegetables increased by 36.85% year-on-year, 129,000 tons year-on-year, and the second largest export volume of canned fruits increased by 19.51% year-on-year, 32,000 tons year-on-year. From January to March, the export volume of tomato paste in China increased by 56.65%, accounting for 73.7% of the total export volume of canned vegetables. The export of canned citrus was the fastest, with an increase of 82,000 tons in the first three months. 14.11%, new export volume of 10 thousand tons.

It is emphasized that in terms of price trend, the domestic canned exports have ushered in a new round of low-price sales period under the impact of the international financial crisis. With all kinds of high costs and increasing pressure on the appreciation of the RMB, the export growth mode can not bring sustained development to the industry.
