The U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) issued a sunset review ruling Tuesday to continue imposing anti-dumping duties on mushroom cans imported from China, Chile, India and Indonesia.

 

As the Commerce Department has already made a positive ruling on sunset review, according to the U.S. trade relief policy procedures, the U.S. International Trade Commission's ruling on the same day indicated that the United States will continue to impose anti-dumping duties on canned mushrooms imported from China and other three countries, including the weighted average anti-dumping rate for Chinese products. 198.63%, second only to 243.87% of India's products.

 

The so-called sunset review refers to the administrative review of the five year period when the anti-dumping duty is imposed. Under World Trade Organization rules, the United States must cancel the "double-sided" tariff five years after its implementation unless the Commerce Department and the International Trade Commission of the United States consider that the elimination of the "double-sided" tariff will lead to a repetition of dumping, subsidies or damage to the United States industry.

 

In 1999, the United States began to impose anti-dumping duties on canned mushrooms imported from China. This round of sunset review is the third round sunset review of the product. China's Ministry of Commerce has repeatedly expressed the hope that the US government will abide by its commitment to oppose trade protectionism, jointly safeguard a free, open and just international trade environment, and properly handle trade frictions in a more rational way.
