This is the second aquatic product enterprise in our city to obtain the qualifications for export of canned fish, which indicates that the market share of canned fish in Taizhou is expected to further increase.

 

According to statistics from the Taizhou Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, in the first November, more than 5,000 tons of canned fish were exported in Taizhou, with a value of more than 11 million US dollars. Both the weight and the value of the fish accounted for about one tenth of the total export volume in China.

 

Canned fish is widely recognized in the international market for its convenience, rich nutrition and long shelf life. As a major fishing country in the world, the production and export volume of China's canned fish began to grow by leaps and bounds in 2006. The main canned fish exported from Taizhou are tuna and mackerel, mainly salted water, supplemented by oil and eggplant juice. Canned tuna is a traditional variety, mainly consumed in North America and the European Union, while canned mackerel is a product developed in recent years.

It is reported that Taizhou is the leading exporter of food processing enterprises, in 2009 began to export tuna and mackerel canned, has maintained a good development trend. This year, with the help of the Taizhou Inspection and Quarantine Department, the company successfully obtained the EU registration qualification and opened the door to the EU market.

 

"Although compared with Thailand and other big exporters of canned fish, China's overall market share of canned fish exports is not high, but there is still a lot of room for development. Especially for Taizhou, with the recovery of the European Union and other consumer markets, the upgrading of industrial scale effect, and the follow-up of the construction of supporting facilities such as special imported fish docks, the fish canning industry will have a better development prospects.

 

However, the export of canned fish in Taizhou still faces some bottlenecks. Take canned tuna, the world's largest producer, for example. Prices for raw materials have risen rapidly in the past two years and have shrunk sharply this year. Some tuna varieties are only about half as expensive as last year. The corresponding market demand also has greater fluctuations, the growth of the previous few years is faster, this year's global market growth slowed down significantly. In the face of complex market environment, supply and demand forecasting is difficult to grasp, which brings great pressure to enterprises. In addition, tuna raw materials rely on imports, Taizhou import special fish wharf has not been completed, some raw materials have to be transferred from Zhoushan and other places, increasing the production costs of enterprises.

 

It is understood that in order to promote the steady development of the export of canned fish, the Taizhou Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau is now further improving the classification management of export food, dynamically adjusting product monitoring items and enterprise level, and striving to "manage and put quickly". At the same time, from the enterprise food safety management system, to supervise and urge enterprises to grasp every link of canned production, to ensure food safety.
