The cumulative output of the canning industry grew by 3.14% year-on-year, including a 45.52% increase in January, a decline in February due to seasonal factors, and a rebound in March, but a 6.09% decrease compared with March 2012.

 

According to the regional distribution of production, canned food production mainly concentrated in Fujian, Hubei, Shandong, Hunan, Zhejiang, Sichuan, Guangxi, Anhui, Liaoning, Hainan and other regions. Among them, Fujian Province has the largest canned output, accounting for nearly 30% of the total canned output in China, followed by Hubei Province, Shandong Province, Hunan Province and Zhejiang Province, accounting for 14%, 7.78%, 7.48% and 7.19% respectively. In addition, the output of Hubei Province and Shandong Province increased rapidly, with the growth rates reaching 39.07% and 20.47% respectively, while the output of Hunan, Sichuan and Liaoning provinces declined significantly year on year.

 

According to the regional distribution of canned output, the cumulative output in the eastern region accounted for 56.33% of the country's total output in the first quarter, an increase of 6.98% over the same period of last year; the cumulative output in the central region accounted for 28.67%, an increase of 9.57%; the cumulative output in the western region accounted for 11.14%, a decrease of 2.08%; the cumulative output in the northeast region accounted for 3.87%, a decrease of 42.85%.
