The 20th anniversary commemorative meeting of the China canned industry association was held in Beijing. It is understood that over the past 20 years, the total output of canned goods in China has increased from more than one million tons to more than 10 million tons, and the annual foreign exchange earnings of exports have jumped to 5-6 billion US dollars. At the same time, China's canning industry is still facing the problem of insufficient growth momentum, experts suggest that the future transformation of high-end market.
 
The development of China's canned food industry is not smooth sailing. Before this, especially in recent years, canned food suffered from misunderstandings such as "long shelf life, definitely adding preservatives" when consumers'health awareness increased. But the whole canned industry has stood the test.
 
Wang Minyan, deputy inspector of the Department of Consumer Goods Industry, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said, "The new economic norm and the rapid changes in consumer demand in the international and domestic markets are both challenges and opportunities for the canning industry. The canning industry should insist on putting the market consumption orientation in the first place, and take consumption as the driving force to speed up the development of quality towards high-end.
 
For the canning industry, a long history means a profound foundation, but also means that under the new economic situation, the old industry faces more challenges. Looking from the global development trend of canned goods, comprehensive collectivization is becoming a trend, resources are gradually concentrated close to each other, the industrial chain is constantly optimized, market monopoly is intensified, and the competitiveness of international counterparts is further strengthened. At the same time, the application of new materials, new packaging and new technology has greatly accelerated the pace of innovation.
 
Due to the changes in the lifestyle of the younger generation, the canning industry is facing historical opportunities such as "kitchen market", "backpack market" and "reserve box market" under the background of simplification, fashion, outdoor sports and leisure tourism. The new normal of the current economy and the rapid changes in consumer demand in the international and domestic markets have pointed out the direction of development for the canning industry.
 
Liang Zhongkang, chairman of the China Canning Industry Association, said that from the perspective of future demand, new concepts, new formats and new models of the manufacturing and distribution industry, including the food industry, are constantly emerging, which may bring about unexpected changes in consumer demand and patterns.
 
Professor Liu Donghong of the Food College of Zhejiang University believes that, on the one hand, the development of China's canning industry should keep a close eye on the international development trend and keep pace with the development of international canning processing technology; on the other hand, we should pay attention to China's specific problems and devote ourselves to product innovation, energy conservation and emission reduction, self-discipline and self-improvement, so that the traditional industry will be revitalized.
 
At the same time, the meeting also issued the "China Canning Industry Alliance (C20) initiative to establish a joint exploration is conducive to the overall development of the canning industry, in line with the common interests of the industry development path, to promote in-depth collaboration, club development, actively realize industrial transformation and upgrading, and quickly promote the brand of China's canning industry, production.
