Canning industry in China is a large food processing industry which processes more than 10 million tons of fruits, vegetables and livestock products every year. In 2007, the total output of canned products reached 5 million 130 thousand tons, and the export volume reached 2 million 780 thousand tons.

 

The canning industry has a history of 200 years, and canned vegetables and fruits are now sterilized by heating without the need for chemical preservatives and other additives. The mushrooms, asparagus, bamboo shoots and canned fruits produced in China have strong competitiveness in the international market, especially the canned products with characteristics and flavors enjoy a good reputation. Before and after the 70s of the last century, canned goods were a luxury product. Over the past ten years, canned food has been out of sight because canned enterprises are keen on foreign markets.

 

The meeting proposed to strive for two to three years to achieve the goal of doubling domestic canned food sales, so that canned food back to the residents'table.
