Recently, law enforcement officers of Xiuyu District Loquat Food and Drug Administration found a bottle of unlabeled loquat cans on the shelves of a supermarket in Putian City for sale. The supermarket's actions were suspected of violating Article 67 of the Food Safety Act (2015 edition), "Prepackaged food should be labeled on the package". Law enforcement officers shall register them according to law.

 

 

 

The value of the canned loquat is only 4 yuan. However, according to Article 125 of the newly revised Food Safety Law, "In any of the following circumstances, the food and drug supervision and Administration Department of the people's government at or above the county level shall confiscate the illegal income and the food and food additives illegally produced and traded, and may confiscate the illegal livelihood." Articles such as tools, equipment, raw materials, etc. that are produced or operated illegally shall be fined not less than 5,000 yuan but not more than 50,000 yuan if the value of the goods of food and food additives illegally produced or operated is less than 10,000 yuan. (2) The production and operation of unlabeled pre-packaged food, food additives or labels or instructions do not conform to the provisions of this Law in respect of food and food additives; "Therefore, although it is only a bottle of unlabeled canned goods worth several yuan, the administrative penalties imposed on it are still very serious. The supermarket operator expressed regret and sadness, and will draw lessons in the future, pay more attention to food safety and business norms.

 

 

 

The Hushi Food and Drug Administration reminds the operators that when some manufacturers sell pre-packaged food, in order to save time, they put the label in the box directly instead of sticking the label on the smallest package. As a result, businesses must label themselves. But some busy or do not understand the business often miss, leading to business itself become the subject of the law. In order to avoid this kind of legal risk, the merchants first try to choose the factory which can provide the smallest package label complete when they purchase the goods, and second, they should treat the food they sell more carefully.
