The Food Safety and Inspection Bureau of the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced Wednesday that a beef canning company in California is recalling suspected Salmonella contaminated ground beef products, recalling a total of 375,000 kg of each batch of products.

 

This is the largest recall of beef products in the United States this year. In early July, the U.S. Department of Health urgently called for the recall of about 170,000 kilograms of beef and its products that could be contaminated with E. coli.

 

According to the recall information released on the US Department of Agriculture's website on June 6, the recalled batches of ground beef products were produced between June 5 and 23, and then wholesaled to the western states of California, Colorado, and other states for repacking and selling to consumers.

 

At present, Colorado has reported that many people have been infected with Salmonella by eating the above company's beef products, and the spread of Salmonella is more toxic and resistant to many common antibiotics.

 

Salmonellosis caused by Salmonella is a common food-borne disease. Typical symptoms after infection include fever, diarrhea, vomiting and so on. The USDA recommends that to prevent Salmonella infection, soap should be used to wash hands before and after processing raw meat products, as well as the case boards, utensils and other timely cleaning.
