According to the statistics of Mianyang Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, in 2010, Mianyang region exported 10.07 million tons of canned meat with a total value of 22.146 million US dollars, an increase of 102.6% and 98.5% respectively compared with 2009, a record high. At the same time, the quality and safety of canned meat exported to China will be zero throughout the year.
 
In order to improve the quality of canned meat for export, Mianyang Inspection and Quarantine Bureau actively innovated the supervision mode, upgraded the scientific supervision level, and effectively promoted the expansion of exports of products.
 
The Bureau actively promotes the initiative of classified management. By helping enterprises to improve the quality assurance system and strengthen the control of key process points, the Bureau helped Meilin Company, a canned meat producer, to become the first export food manufacturer in its jurisdiction to obtain the first class of management qualification in June 2010. The bureau is confirming the operation of the enterprise quality control system. In the case of good, proper risk control measures, timely and effective correction and stable product quality, the quality inspection of the products is carried out under the leadership of the quality control department of the enterprises, which not only ensures the quality of the products, but also simplifies the quality inspection procedures, and shortens the reporting time for each batch of export products by an average of 2-3 days. This accelerated the export inspection cycle of enterprises, and provided strong support for enterprises to expand their product exports.
 
Aiming at the problem of veterinary drug residue contamination in raw meat, which is the biggest risk factor for the quality and safety of canned meat, Mianyang Inspection and Quarantine Bureau has helped enterprises to establish a feasible product traceability system, and urged enterprises to carry out veterinary drug residue detection for each batch of raw materials and finished products according to the requirements, strictly control veterinary drug residue contamination in raw meat, and ensure that the products are released. Zero risk product.
 
At the same time, the Bureau vigorously promotes the implementation of the quality responsibility of enterprises. Through organizing relevant staff to carry out special training on food safety management system, quality assurance system, inspection and quarantine procedures, the Bureau helps enterprises strengthen the self-discipline consciousness of the first responsible person for product quality and safety, and actively promotes production and quality.
