 South Africa's Peach Cans Sales hit a six-year high

 
Canned South African peach exports surged 38% in 2015, but unit prices fell 23% per ton compared with the previous year.
 
Delivery to China (the largest buyer during this period) increased by 65% to 14,203 tons, amounting to $15 million, a 32% increase over the previous year. China's purchases are slightly less than a fifth of South Africa's total canned peach exports.
 
 
 
Meanwhile, sales to Russia more than doubled to 11,489 tons, with prices falling from $883 per ton in the previous year to $619 per ton.
 
 
 
On the contrary, Japan and Hong Kong, which ranked third and fourth in export volume, slightly declined, with sales of 8045 tons and 6479 tons, respectively.
 
Interestingly, demand from Germany is strong. South Africa's exports to the country doubled to 5,168 tons. As the unit price was reduced by half to $663 per ton, it was only $44 more than Russia's per ton.
