California early-ripening peach production was lower than expected

The California Peach Cans Association (CCPA) said that the total production of extra-early-maturing peaches was 6,006 tons (short) less than previously estimated. The production of nectarine is expected to be a small year in history, which increases the pressure on the industry. According to the latest "Taomao" magazine, as of July 16, the production of extra-early-maturing peaches was about 70,075 tons, leaving about 1,350 tons to be picked in the last week of July. Thus, the total production of extra-early-ripening peaches is estimated to be 71,425 tons, and California's average production is estimated to be 14.3 tons/acre, which is nearly 5% less than last year's 15.0 tons/acre. This year, only Kingsburg's output increased from last year to 16.9 tons per acre (15.7 tons per acre last year). The quality of fruit harvested in 2016 was very good, and the classification of extra-early ripening fruit was improved compared with the previous two years. So far this year, California and other exotic peach production accounted for only 3.62% of the total output. As of July 21, the harvest date of early-maturing varieties was four days earlier than last year.
